I may have blogged on this topic before, but it bears repeating because it is easy to forget when life is slapping us around.
You are precious and greatly beloved by the Creator of the Universe – yes, YOU! Even before you were born, God knew you and chose you to be one of His precious children. He loves you and has a plan and a purpose for your life.
We don’t feel worthy, because we aren’t – not in our own human strength and ability. God knew that we wouldn’t be able to meet His holy standards on our own, but He loves us so much He included that in His plan too. Jesus came to teach us by His word and example how much God loves us and wants us to love Him. He also came so His death on the cross would be the sacrifice that allows us to become holy enough to approach our Holy God. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, that atoning sacrifice becomes applied to our lives and covers our sin, making us holy in God’s eyes. God did it all, so we would be able to be in relationship with Him, because He loves us that much.
When God was making his plan for creation, he included you and I in it – specifically, by name and personality, not just as a general idea. It is a choice we must make for ourselves, but God knows our hearts and knew, even before we were born, which ones of us would choose Jesus. He chose you and I before we were born to love and serve Him. Because of that, He gave us – you and me – gifts, talents, and abilities that prepare us, each in our own unique way, to fulfill a special place and purpose in His plan. He chose you. It wasn’t an accident, or a mistake. God is perfect, so His choices and decisions are perfect. YOU were part of His perfect plan all along!
When you have a hard time believing in yourself (I’m speaking to myself here too!), believe in God’s belief in you (remember, He’s perfect and makes no mistakes! He made you. He put you in the family and community you are a part of. He knows exactly – to the last detail – what your strengths and weaknesses – and mine – are. Knowing all that, He still chose you and me to be His beloved children, and He has a plan and purpose for your life.
Trust in His choice and his plan. Let His Spirit fill you and guide you in all of your life. Ask Him to help you live out the plan He has for you, then listen and follow the leading of His Spirit within you. He knows what He is doing, and He chose YOU!
Blessed to be a blessing,
Kathy
