Influential evangelical believers from across America will be meeting in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, June 12 to launch a proposed Evangelical Statement of Principles for Immigration Reform.
This broad coalition is uniting to call on Democrats and Republicans alike to lead the nation to a bipartisan solution on immigration at a time when immigration reform has become a talking point for campaigns on both sides of the aisle.
Their proposal is anticipated to include respecting the God-given dignity of each person and the strength of keeping families together, while at the same time upholding the rule of law, protecting national security and maintaining fairness for the American taxpayer.
Finding a bridge to the partisan and personal divide will be no easy task for the assembled group or for the Congress. In addition, there are three weeks left in the U.S. Supreme Court’s current term, and it is anticipated that the Court will issue its ruling on whether states can pursue their own laws on immigration.
