Philipines:
Tuesday was a national holiday in the Philippines. What would have been a day of rest and rejuvenation for many, spent at home or in shopping malls, quickly turned into a day of devastation and terror spent in the streets when a 7.2-magnitude earthquake rocked islands in the center of the Philippines, killing at least 85 people. The majority of the damage exists in the islands of Cebu and Bohol.
Pray for:
♦ Disaster relief teams who are assessing the damage.
♦ Safety from the continuing aftershocks.
♦ An end to the fear engulfing many Filipinos.
♦ Opportunities for missionaries and national believers to share the gospel.
India:
In a matter of hours on Sunday, Cyclone Phailin ripped through the Indian coastal states of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, damaging hundreds of thousands of homes, destroying millions of farmland acres and affecting 12 million people. As resulting heavy rain and flooding continues, Phailin's level of devastation is still unknown.
Please pray for:
♦ Safe and quick travel for our relief teams as they seek to provide relief to victims.
♦ Provision for the teams’ needs and the needs of those they are helping.
♦ Comfort and encouragement in the Lord for the believers affected by this storm.
♦ Many to understand and receive Christ’s love through our relief teams’ efforts.
♦ Safety for those affected by floods and wisdom for the military personnel working to rescue them.
