Our recent trip to El Salvador reminded me once again about how precious water is, especially after seeing all the empty bottles that we had stacked up at the end of our trip (luckily someone was going to recycle those bottles and get a little money back on them). The last several years here in Georgia (and across other parts of our country) have been ones of drought – though we have been blessed with some good rains lately.
Our bodies are largely water and we need it more than we need food! Yet like with so much of God’s creation, we have wasted this resource and there are many in our world who do not have the luxury of clean water, much less the availability of it coming into their homes.
The Bible talks about “living water” and the “water of life”. So many people cannot even imagine that due to the conditions of their drinking water and the death that it brings, especially to children.
I have been collecting some resources and links on organizations and businesses that are working to provide clean water to those who need it. I’ll update this post as I find more. Think and pray about your role in being a “water steward”. Our world needs it.
